Until We Could is a set of illustration zine about gay marriage.

Inspired by American poet Richard Blanco's poem, the illustration uses a more subtle and restrained way of expression to explore the contradiction between internal emotions and the external world. The large areas of pink and black in the illustrations are taken from the lesbian and gay symbols. Until We Could tries to escape from traditional 2D by constructing three-dimensional virtual spaces on the paper, and uses abstract three-dimensional images to create a richer context and atmosphere.

In addition to the zines, the work also includes a series of 'train tickets'. On 5.17 International Day Against Homophobia, we let people draw tickets at random. Carried in the form of train ticket, the process of legalizing same-sex marriage is a train from the impossible to the possible. Same-sex marriage has been legalized in different places in different years, like a train moving from station to station.

‘Buy a ticket and get on the train’, we start from the COULDN’T, heading for the COULD.
